 Join Heather Houskeeper, the Botanical Hiker to learn how to confidently identify wild plants using a plant identification key and loupe magnifier. Together we’ll learn basic botanical terms and plant morphology. This knowledge is all you need to start recognizing plants’ unique identifying characteristics and to discern one plant from another. These skills will enrich your every walk, are helpful in choosing which plants to foster and which to weed out, and are essential when working with edible and medicinal plants. Our program will focus on herbaceous (non-woody) flowering plants. We’ll begin with a lesson in basic botany and then get hands-on experience using a plant identification key and loupe.
