The Dives

Location: The Cooperage Project
Time: Oct 12, 2018 from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM

Join in for a fun night of rock and roll music brought to you by The Dives! Don’t forget to grab some dinner from the Walking Taco Company Food Truck before the show. With a sound both fresh and familiar at the same time, The Dives are continuing a journey that began less than two years ago. 2017 was filled with exciting firsts for The Dives as the band celebrated their debut release, Everybody’s Talkin’, featuring four original tracks, at a release party doubling as a European tour send-off. In the heart of Greenwich Village, the crowd overflowed from the performance space and, just days later, The Dives were performing their original songs for crowds that reached multiple tens of thousands at hallowed venues like London’s 02 Arena, the SSE Hydro in Glasgow and Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham. The seminal rock weekly, The Aquarian, featured The Dives on their cover and the UK’s Classic Rock Magazine raved, “Songs are everything. And The Dives have them.” 2017 also came with its own challenges as there was a personnel change within the band. However, this allowed the band to regroup, hone their sound and reapply themselves to their passion. The Dives took the new line-up and new songs to Tampa Bay’s popular annual Margarita Festival and won the crowd and the festival promoters and have already been invited back for next year’s festival. The Dives are currently recording and looking forward to an exciting announcement for the holidays. Mike Lefton (guitar/vocals) attended Montclair State University, and has shared the stage with such noteworthy artists as Bernard Purdie, Simon Kirke (Bad Company), Mark Hudson (producer/songwriter for Ringo Starr, Aerosmith, and others), Godfrey Townsend, andCarmine Appice. He has released an EP called “What Are We Waiting For,” and continues to perform with various groups, and as a solo artist, to date. Sergio Ortega (bass/vocals) is a multi-instrumentalist hailing from Indiana, and a graduate of Berklee College of Music. He is a songwriter, educator, and has lent his skills to Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. Jimmy Meier (drum/vocals) grew up in NJ, and was drawn to drumming at a young age, which led him to pursue songwriting in production in college. Jimmy helps others record, mix, and produce their own music when he’s not drumming for the Dives; and he also mixed the Dives’ latest single, “Anticipation.”
