Harmony in the Woods Presents “American Music Weekend" Featuring The Gold Magnolias and The Bumper Jacksons on July 2 & July 3

Harmony In The Woods, outdoor performing arts amphitheater in Hawley, PA opens its season with American Music Weekend on Friday, July 2nd. Prior to opening the doors of their home in the woods, Creative Manager, Jill Carletti and Foundation Chair, Henry M. Skier curated live performances in the Boiler Room of the Hawley Silk Mill from 2011 to 2017. Now, with the help of a larger team, the organization aims to enlighten and engage all in their new venue among the trees, with a lineup that reaches across musical genres and performance styles. Tickets are available for the entire season, but “American Music Weekend" is fast approaching over July 4th weekend, featuring The Gold Magnolias and The Bumper Jacksons on July 2 and July 3.

“We have sorely missed live performances, but our entire team is beyond thrilled to enjoy music and togetherness again in the woods of Hawley, PA,” commented Jill Carletti, Creative Manager of Foundation for Harmony Presents. “We're excited for our phenomenal lineup and hope to see everyone this summer!”

Friday, July 2nd showcases Brooklyn-based, The Gold Magnolias. Though the band hails from New York, their sound has been rightly described as ‘Brooklyn Southern Soul’, Daniel Foose and Hudson Mueller (from Austin, TX) with Evan Felts (from New Orleans) have been winning acclaim for bringing the southern spirit to New York’s live music scene, adding vibrant sounds to bluesy riffs. Enter jazz saxophonist Ryan Anselmi (Kansas City) and Jeff Barton (Raleigh, NC) complete their engaging sound by opening the door to  The Gold Magnolias’ jam-band influences. Reviewers have frequently compared the band to greats like the Alabama Shakes and Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Willie Nelson, The Allman Brothers, George Clinton, Little Feat, and Stevie Wonder. A perfect choice to get the American Music Weekend started with a band that represents the most celebratory sounds within the great landscape of American music.

Saturday, July 3rd marks the return The Bumper Jacksons, combining roots jazz, country swing, and street blues, The Bumper Jacksons is a fiery hot and sweet five-piece band, painting America's story from the streets of New Orleans to Appalachian hollers. Unafraid to scrap together new sounds from forgotten 78's, the Bumper Jacksons elegantly balance paying homage to the traditions while fashioning their own unique, playful style. The infectious appeal of their sound cannot be denied, with the band being honored multiple times as the Mid-Atlantic's "Artist of the Year," "Best Country/Americana Band" & "Best Folk Band" at the Washington Area Music Awards.

Tickets for these Friday and Saturday evening performances are $25 and $35, depending on seats chosen, guests are encouraged to BYOB, chair/blanket and snacks for the 2021 summer season. Both shows begin at 6 pm with doors open at 5:30 pm. Parking is available on site and attendees will be directed on where to park.
