St. John’s Choir to perform First Christmas Concert in 2 Years

Location: St. John the Evangelist Church
Time: Dec 11, 2022@2:00 PM

(Honesdale) Sing a song of gladness and Cheer! For the Joy of Christmas is here! These lyrics are far more than just words from the beautiful longtime St. John’s choir favorite A Christmas Carol by Jose Mari Chan. They express the joyful feeling in a season when we can raise our voices in song once more.

For the first time in 2 years, a St. John’s Choir Christmas Concert will be held. It will take place on Sunday afternoon, December 11 at St. John the Evangelist Church located at 150 Terrace Street in Honesdale, PA. Starting at 2 pm, this free concert filled with old favorites and new arrangements should run for about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Come enjoy an afternoon of seasonal sounds with traditional holiday tunes such as Silent Night, Joy to the World, and O Come All Ye Faithful. Beautiful favorites from Christmas’s past such as Angel’s Carol, Bethlehem, and The Holy and the Ivy. In addition, soloists Keith Lewis and Pip Tagle mesmerize as they raise their voices with choir backup in a gorgeous version of O Holy Night

Joining the choir is an amazing group of talented musicians: Theresa Gumble (piano, organ, and heart of the choir), Sue Apgar (wind and brass), John Gardas (percussion) and Jerry Swendsen (Bass). The choir is under the direction of longtime local choir icon, John Propeack. Propeack is known for challenging his choir and his audience with a wide variety of beautiful pieces of music as well as sharing his love of music with all who wish to hear.

After two long years apart, the choir, musicians, and director invite you to come home to St. Johns for Christmas. See you at 2 pm on Sunday, December 11th for a lovely afternoon of music and joy.
